Our Farm Sign

Dor Galen .........


I painted this farm sign last year. That is Sindarin script below "Dor Galen"......
Sindarin is an elvish dialect by J.R.R. Tolkein.  My husband and I are Tolkein affectionados from "way back in the 70's.  Dor Galen in Sindarin means "green land" or "green acres' in our case.
To the right of the sign are sunflowers which will be blooming very soon. I planted sunflowers in our garden in 2007 and we have had volunteer sunflowers every year since. Future plans for gardens include a natural dye garden and sunflowers will be a part . I will be learning from the ground up  (no pun intended) about natural dyes and how I can utilize them for our wool......
